See inside a GTM container without logging in

Lost access to your Google Tag Manager account? You can still see exactly what’s live in your container. Enter your website URL or GTM ID and the inspector reads the published container straight from the site: every tag, trigger and variable, including the internal infrastructure GTM hides in its own UI. No login, nothing stored.

Inspect a GTM Container

Enter a website URL to auto-detect GTM IDs, or enter a GTM container ID directly (e.g. GTM-XXXXXX).

Examples:

No container loaded

Enter a GTM ID or website URL above to get started.

When this helps

You've lost access to the GTM account

An agency moved on, a developer left, or the login is gone. The container is still live on your site. Read it here and see exactly what's running, without an account.

Documenting a setup before a handover

Capture every tag, trigger and variable in a container before a migration, rebuild, or client takeover, so nothing gets lost in translation.

Seeing what a site actually loads

Check what tracking any website is running, yours or anyone else's, straight from its published container.

This tool shows you what’s in a container. Separately, if you want to know whether a setup is actually correct, Tracking Auditor runs a scored GA4 & GTM audit: your first one is free.

Common questions

Do I need to log in to use the GTM Inspector?

No. It reads the container's published, live version directly from the site or GTM ID you enter. Nothing is stored and no Google account access is requested.

Can it see unpublished changes sitting in a workspace?

No, it only reads the published, live version of the container, the same one visitors' browsers actually load. Changes sitting in an unpublished workspace won't show up until they're published.

Does this work on any website, or just my own?

Any public site with a GTM container, yours or someone else's, since it reads whatever container is actually published on the page.

Is the GTM Inspector really free?

Yes. There's no login, no account, and no cost to use it.
